Instant Dissidence is committed to participatory activities as part of its core activity. We are particularly interested in working with young adults and adults that may or may not have previous dance experience.

Since 2002 the company has undertaken education/community work with the following clients:

• West Yorkshire Playhouse Heydays Programme (over 50’s dance) and Summer Programme (teenagers);

• Community Dance York;

• York St. John University;
• University College Doncaster;
• University of Leeds;
• University of Surrey;
• De Montfort University.

Activities Offered

• a contemporary technique class (1.5 hours);
• a choreographic workshop looking at some of the processes and movement vocabulary used by the company (2.5 hours);
• a spoken presentation on the current touring production, its influences and intentions (1 hour).
